Back to School Supply Drives & Vaccines

Most parents, let alone kids, are not thinking about returning back to school just yet. It feels like school just let out and families are still planning summer activities or getaways.

Chambers Health’s Chambers Community Health Centers (Clinics) are partnering with the Chambers County Public Health Department to collect backpacks and school supplies at West Chambers Medical Center, Bayside Clinic, and The Wellness Center at Bayside. Supplies collected at various partner locations will be distributed at the Back to School Bash held at White’s Park in Anahuac on August 12th.

The Chambers Health Clinics are long-time approved sites for the Texas Vaccines for Children program managed by the Department of State Health Services. Every patient seeking a vaccine is evaluated at every visit for eligibility for the program. Parents with children are not turned away or refused vaccines due to their inability to pay. The Clinics have eligibility clerks at each location to assist patients with options if there is concern about their ability to pay for any health services (medical, dental, or counseling).

Most major medical insurances cover the cost of recommended immunizations at little to no out-of-pocket expense to the patient. As a federally qualified health center, Chambers Community Health Centers have access to various programs and resources to assist those who are uninsured or underinsured. Anyone wishing to learn more about the various resources available is encouraged to call the Clinic closest to you.

In 2022, Chambers Community Health Centers vaccinated approximately 400 students during Back to School promotions. Most students vaccinated during this time were required to receive vaccination in order to return to school. And, like public schools, daycares also require proof of vaccination based on age.

In addition to scheduled immunizations, Chambers Health also offers sports physicals at a discounted rate through any of our primary care clinics across Chambers and southern Liberty County. Designated sports physical events are also found on our Facebook page.

While appointments are always preferred, beginning July 17th through August 31st, any parent who brings their child to one of the Clinic locations (Anahuac, Dayton, or Mont Belvieu) with a current shot record will be seen and receive vaccinations. Children age 2 to 18 with a current vaccine record are not required to be seen by a medical provider. Children under 2 years of age that have not been previously seen at one of our Clinics are required to be seen by a medical provider before receiving vaccinations.  The Chambers Health Clinics all participate in the Texas Health Steps program.

Chambers Community Health Centers have been participating in GCCISD-sponsored CATCH events (CATCH: Coordinated Approach To Child Health) since 2018 across more than 12 campuses.

“Vaccines are important to children’s health and are considered one of the best preventive health tools available. Chambers Health Clinics provide access to comprehensive care through a variety of programs and services, with your health and well-being in mind”, shared Medical Director Dr. Redman.

With five locations across Chambers and southern Liberty County, Chambers Health is well-positioned to serve as your health provider, offering various services to persons of all ages. If you are looking for primary care, disease management, immunizations, women’s health, sports and work physicals, minor in-office procedures, counseling, dental, physical therapy, emergency services, skilled nursing care, fitness, and much more; Chambers Health is your complete healthcare team.
