Sue Shrum, RPh, BCNP, graduated in 1990 from the University of Houston College of Pharmacy and received her pharmacist license through the state of Texas that same year. She has experience in retail, hospital, LTAC and nuclear pharmacy. As a Board Certified Nuclear Pharmacist from the Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties, Sue has worked as a nuclear pharmacist and specialized in Positron Emission Tomography (PET) medications, from manufacturing through FDA approval. As a nuclear pharmacist, Sue became licensed in five states, but has always considered Texas her home. Sue has written many policies and procedures and enjoys ensuring that patients receive the proper medication in the correct dosage. Sue lives with her husband of 28 years, Darrell, and 16 year old daughter, Madi, in League City, Texas. In addition to being a pharmacist, she also is a member of the League City Citizen's Police Academy Alumni, a Volunteer in Policing (VIP) for the LCPD and is on the Board of Directors of Peaceful Place, a non-profit ministry that serves the League City and surrounding area.
As you would suspect, our Pharmacy department is in charge of dispensing all the many medications our doctors and nurses use to care for our patients. They not only dispense those medications, but also monitor those medications for drug interactions and potential side effects as well.
And, as it should come as no surprise to anyone that the cost of drugs can be astronomical, our Pharmacy staff, working in collaboration with our Medical Staff, has developed a formulary for Bayside Community Hospital that covers the bases, while controlling the cost for the organization, and the patient.
So, our Pharmacy staff is constantly searching and researching to ensure that Bayside has the very best medications available to care for what may come our way. For more information contact Director Sue Shrum, or our Pharmacy Technician, Aleta Bettis at 409-267-3143, ext 2253.
